The operators of Kashagan and Karachaganak deposits to be advised to increase the local Kazakh content

Kazakhstan plans to sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in addition to the major projects in the oil and gas sector, according to which the commitment to increase the proportion of local content will be provided for, the Ministry of Industry of New Technologies’ press centre reports.

"In order to develop the local content in the framework of the production sharing agreement it is necessary to apply a method by analogy with cthe work onducted on the increase of the proportion of the local content in the Tengizchevroil’s future project, i.e. to ensure the conclusion of the memoranda of understanding and cooperation in addition to the major projects in the oil and gas sector (North Caspian Operating Company - Kashagan and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating). Commitments to increase the share of the local content, the transfer of experience to Kazakhstani contractors and suppliers, to stimulate the establishment of joint ventures with Kazakh companies, as well as to improve skills and the employment of Kazakhstan workers must be provided for in this memorandum,"- the report said.
