A 207.29 karat diamond has been extracted at the Zarnitsa pipe

​This is the largest diamond extracted at the Udachninsky GOK for the entire history of Zarnitsa.

Alrosa extracted a 207.29 karat diamond at the Zarnitsa pipe of the Udachninsky GOK. Its dimensions are 38.0*37.0*18.0 mm.

Chief geologist of the Udachninsky GOK, G. Shmarov, says that the applied technologies of extraction and enrichment provide a high level of diamond security.

Diamond extraction at the Zarnitsa pipe has been held since 1999 by the open pit method. The discovered reserves of the deposit under JORC made up 7.49 mln karats as of January 1st 2016. In Q1 2016 in the framework of production capacity growth of the mine the extraction of diamonds was by 2.3 times higher than in Q1 2015.
