New vessel for subsea installation to be built for Shah-Deniz-2

The operator of the Shah Deniz project - the British company BP- has signed a contract for construction of a multipurpose vessel with a shipyard that belongs to SOCAR. It will be used for installation of subsea facilities for the second stage of Shah Deniz.

The agreement was signed by president of BP in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Gordon Birrell and director of the Baku Shipyard, David Lo.

The contract’s value is $378 million. The construction of the vessel should be completed in April of 2017. According to BP, it will be designed by MarineTechnologyDevelopment, which is engineering unit of Singaporean KeppelOffshore & Marine.
