Gazprom to reduce gas transit via Ukraine

The head of “Gazprom” A.Miller met with the CEO of Austrian OMV Gerhard Roiss to discuss a the possibility of gas transit to Europe bypassing Ukraine. According to A. Miller it is reasonable to search for alternative ways of gas supply to Europe in the current geopolitical situation.

 

The head of “Gazprom” has also discussed the vector of development of the Russian-Austrian relationship in energy sector with the Minister of Economy of Austria, Reinhold Mitterlehner. They have discussed the possibility of construction of gas pipeline on the Austrian territory within the context of the current agreement between the 2 countries alongside with the construction of gas pipeline in Slovenia. Such an approach has no small role in the development of “South Stream”, especially if to take into account the number of agreements, concluded by “Gazprom”. Besides, such practice will contribute to the strengthening of mutually-beneficial partnership between Russia and Austria in the field of the economy.
