Enakievo metallurgical plant resumes its work. How it to influence Ukrainian metallurgy

Last week, Metinvest holding company resumed operation of Enakievo metallurgical plant and its Makeevsky subsidiary. This became possible after recovery of a stable rail services and organization of regular supply of raw materials.

Today, Metinvest holding company confirmed the start of production at Enakievo metallurgical plant (EMZ). "7-thousand staff of the plant looks with hope how the supply of raw materials are carried out. After such a long period of inactivity, it’s very difficult to launch blast furnaces, there are considerable difficulties. Only the professionalism of the staff, which we were able to save, helps us,"- said general director of EMZ Alexander Podkorytov.

The first reports of a possible resumption of the EMZ operation appeared in early March. It was reported that in the second half of the month Enakievo metallurgical plant and Makeevsky subsidiary of EMZ could resume work. The exact date of the enterprise launch were then tied to the condition of the transport infrastructure in the region.
