Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy considers maintaining the volume of oil production in Azerbaijan at a stable level real.
This year Azerbaijan is expected to produce 43 million tons of oil, Energy Minister ,Natig Aliyev stated. "The main purpose of the Azerbaijan hydrocarbons sector is to maintain stable production volumes at the level of 40-45 million tons, and all the necessary work is carried for this", - Aliyev stated. As a proof that it's real, the Minister cited the fact that last year Azerbaijan was predicted to produce a little more than 41 million tons of oil, whereas in fact its production was more than 43 million tons.
In 2013 the bulk of oil extraction fell on the block of "Azeri – Chirag - Gyuneshli" oil and gas fields. The liquid hydrocarbons from the "Shah Deniz" gas condensate field have contributed their share. Both areas are developed by international consortiums led by BP.
