Export of Turkmen oil through Azerbaijan grows

Last year, the export of Turkmen oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline grew by 200 thousand tons. By results of 2013, it made up 3.3 million tons against 3.1 million tons in the previous year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reports.

Oil is delivered to Baku by tankers, then it is pumped through Sangachalsky terminal to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, via which the most part of the oil, extracted in Azerbaijan, is exported.

The transportation of Turkmen oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is carried out according to contract of SOCAR Trading with Dragon oil, which has produced oil in Turkmenistan from the beginning of July, 2010.
