The start of the shale revolution: Ministry of Natural Resources wants to copy the USA model

The Ministry of Natural Resources is looking for a way to repeat the American shale gas revolution in production in Russia. After the United States and the European Union banned the delivery of technologies for extraction of difficult oil to Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources began to think about the attraction of domestic investors in the industry and wants to declare a regime of the free development of such resources Experts think the idea is good but it will be difficult to realize it: small companies have little funds, and open data on the geology is extremely scarce.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has offered "to create a barrier-free environment to promote the extracting technology of difficult reserves”, the Deputy Minister, Denis Khramov said to Interfax yesterday. To do this, he said, you need to provide for everyone - both individuals and companies - the opportunities for drilling in a particular area for a given time. Mr. Khramov emphasizes that the shale revolution in the West was made not by large corporations, but many ordinary people, "little versed in the technology of hydraulic fracturing and those who were interested”, who came up with the desired solutions, suitable for geology of a deposit, in improvised ways.
