Accident at oil pipeline in North-Kazakhstan region resulted in oil spill

​The oil spill covered 1.2 thousand sq m as a result of the accident at the oil pipeline in the North-Kazakhstan region.

The reasons of the accident and value of the harm done to the environment are being investigated.

According to the state ecological inspector of the Department of Ecology in the North-Kazakhstan region, T. Tapinov, the accident took place on September 19th in the Akkaiynsky district in the North-Kazakhstan region. The accident happened at the construction of a new pipeline. A site of the Russian route pipeline TON-2 was damaged. It is operated by the affiliate of KazTransOil JSC, T. Tapinov said.

According to him, the excavator operator accidentally touched the old pipeline which resulted in oil spill at the volume of about 70 cubic m covering 1.2 thousand sq m.
