Vladimir Putin: Gazprom helped to found a large gas extraction centre in Yamal

The Russian President,Vladimir Putin claimed, Gazprom has helped to found a large gas extraction centre in Yamal.

For 20 years the company has increased its gas extraction potential significantly. The Zapolyarnoye deposit has reached its full capacity and started gas extraction at the strategically important Bovanenkovo deposit. “Actually, the facilities put into operation within the last 20 years can provide 447 billion cubic metres of gas per year. This almost equals annual gas consumption in Russia”, the RF President noted.

He reminded, for 20 years the extent of Gazprom pipeline system has increased by 40 thousand km. The first and the second lines of Nord Stream were put into operation. South Stream is next. At the same time, the company actively takes part in creation of resource potential for development of Siberia and the Far East. Thus, Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok has been launched. “In the nearest future the main line from Yakutia (Sila Sibiri) will be constructed as well as the unified gas supply system in East Russia”, Putin said.

Besides, the company has a lot of projects, including development of Yamal and Arctic shelf and expansion of Russian presence at outer trading platforms. It is important that Russian companies making the best product in the world become the main suppliers of Gazprom. “I believe, Gazprom will do its best to increase the global competitiveness and fulfill all its projects successfully”, Putin concluded.
