OMZ-Special Steels makes shell of reactor VVER-TOI

The enterprise OMZ-Special Steels, a part of OMZ Group, has successfully conducted the forging of an ingot of 420 tons at the automated forging complex AKK-12000. The ingot was produced of steel 15Kh2NMFA of the first grade at the end of December 2013.

The forged shell is designed for  thereactor core of a new generation of the VVER-TOI project, developed by the general designer of nuclear power plants Atomenergoproekt (Rosatom). The shell’s length is 6 meters. The product of such size and configuration was forged in Russia for the first time.
