Gazprom prepares to provide reliable gas supply to Russian and foreign consumers in conditions of cold winter

The Management Board of Gazprom has examined the readiness of the Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) for use during peak load periods in autumn and winter of 2014-2015. The gas volume in underground storage facilities of Gazprom will be the highest in the history of the national gas industry and will make up at least 72 billion cubic meters.

It was noted at the meeting that the comprehensive work of Gazprom on preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period, which, as it has been predicted by the HydroMetCenter of the Russian Federation,to be colder than usual, would provide a reliable gas supply to Russian regions and the fulfillment of contractual obligations to European consumers.

During the preparation for winter of 2014-2015, at all 17 complexes the scheduled preventive maintenance and repair works were carried out at facilities of the UGSS. In the first nine months of this year, overhaul of 1264.47 km of gas pipelines and 262 gas distribution stations, internal diagnostics of 18.75 thousand km of gas pipelines were carried out. 61 underwater crossings were repaired and 863 ones were surveyed. The repair of 544 pumping units was fulfilled, as well as the comprehensive repair of 32 km of industrial pipelines of compressor stations.
