In 2012, Russia produced 518 million tons of oil

In 2012, Russia produced 518 million tons of oil, exceeding the results of 1990 for the first time. Growth in production was provided by achievement of projected capacity of the Vankor deposit in Eastern Siberia and stabilization in production at the traditional deposits in Western Siberia, the Ministry of Energy reports. This stabilization is the result of the executed policy for stimulation of production of hard-extractable reserves. Drilling at oil deposits increased by 9%.
