Novak: Turkish Stream to replace South Stream

Russia's decision to build Turkish Stream gas pipeline is final, and the European Commission should begin construction of its own infrastructure to ensure the delivery of Russian gas to European consumers as soon as possible. This was announced by the Energy Minister Alexander Novak at the meeting with the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

"I informed Mr. Šefčovič (the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič) that in December 2014 Russia decided to build a new route of the pipeline through Turkey with construction of a hub on the border between Turkey and Greece. The volume of gas supply to the hub will be 63 billion cubic meters. This is a decision that has been taken. Gazprom holds all the necessary actions together with Turkish partners to implement this project,"- said Novak.
