New Great Game does not enhance US influence in Russia's backyard.

When in April 2010 the Presidentn of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev was toppled, political analysts of the West focused on the future US Air Force base on the territory of Bishkek airport "Manas". Then concerns were raised that Moscow punished Bakiyev for the fact that as a renegade he did not fulfill the promise to the Kremlin to achieve closure of the base, and that now Russia will require the new leader of Kyrgyzstan to "squeeze" this issue to the end.

Instead of the usual use of the situation in the republic for its geopolitical games, Moscow and Washington, in fact, cooperated when through completely informal negotiations facilitated the evacuation of Bakiyev. This was the situation when the former Cold War adversaries were able to avoid a confrontation in a country where both have interests and military presence.
