Gazprom: Shale gas not to replace Russian supplies to Poland
In the near future, shale gas and supplies of liquefied natural gas won’t be able to replace supplies of pipeline gas from Russia for Poland, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management, A.Medvedev thinks.
“Gas extraction from shale is much more expensive than conventional sources. An efficient business model hasn’t yet appeared even in the United States, the only country, where shale gas is produced on an industrial scale. The cost of shale gas extraction in the USA is three times more than the sale price,” – Medvedev reported.
According to him, refusal of a number of foreign companies from continuation of shale gas exploration in Poland says about problems.
