TVEL to found metallurgical center on the basis of Chepets mechanic plant

The fuel company of Rosatom TVEL will found on the basis of Chepets mechanic plant OAO (in the structure of the fuel company TVEL) a metallurgical center. The first Vice-President of TVEL OAO, V. Rozhdestvensky, said at the meeting of the plant, the report says. According to the conception of the forming and development, on the basis of Chepets mechanic plant is it planned to join a few new directions of the plant’s activity. In particular, it will comprise special pipe rolling, the production of solid calciferous wire, nanometallurgy, rare earth elements, technical ceramics and others. The deputy CEO, director for economics and finances, O. Bekmemetiev made a report on the results of work of Chepets mechanic plant OAO in Jan-September 2011. According to him, the main goal of the production is the launch of chloride technology that will allow to significantly cut the expenses and reduce the prime cost. There is also a goal of development of the general purpose industry products. The successful development of such directions as titanium and stainless rolled products, commercialization of superconducting production will allow the plant to significantly increase the volumes and raise the revenue. The Chepets mechanic plant OAO (Glazov) produces construction materials and spare parts for fuel assembly, products out of natural uranium for the enterprises of nuclear power energy and chemical, oil and gas and medicine spheres. The Chepets mechanic plant OAO is the only in Russia and the 3rd in the world producer of goods out of zirconium and its alloys.
