Europe and Gazprom find a common ground, but only for one project

The European Commission again changes the order of access to its gas pipelines, on which the Russian gas export depends a lot. This time, the introduction of auctions for the pumping capacities is discussed that must strengthen the competition between gas suppliers. As a matter of fact, Russia offers the same for provision of full access of Gazprom to the OPAL gas pipeline, via which gas from the Nord Stream is transported. The monopoly doesn’t expect competitors here. But if auctions are used in the South Stream gas pipeline project, Gazprom may lose a part of its capacities.
