The European Commissioner does not consider it necessary to introduce the energy sanctions against Russia.

The Energy sector – is not the best for the economic sanctions of the EU against Russia, and the decision whether to impose them or not, will be taken in Brussels and not in Washington, the EU Energy Commissioner, Guenther Oettinger told reporters.

"We can consult with the U.S., listen to their recommendations, but will make the decisions ourselves. Gas and oil are at the end of the list of possible sanctions and certainly will not be among the next", - the commissioner stated.

At the same time, he confirmed the "interest" of the European Union in the strategy, agreed with the U.S..
