Picketers against petrochemical cluster have been detained in Nalhodka

The organization of th protest action in Nakhodka city has been arrested by the police. One of the participants will be fined 10-25 thousand roubles. One of the picketers ,T.Korchevnaya said to RIA Novosti, they have not been given an official rejection so far. The protest action was planned for May 17th fom 12 to 2 p.m. An initiative group hoped this protest will attract attention of the citizens, as this was the City Day. According to Korchevnaya an application for carrying out of protest movement was filed as far back as on May 13th. But they did not receive any official rejection of the protest action and they started protest movement on May 17th and displayed posters “No industrial area on our beaches.” As she noted there operate ESPO and coal terminals in the city. The city iscovered in coal dust. There are no dolphins or white whales in the gulf because of oil spill. They are about to ring us with a petrochemical cluster, oil port and fertilizer plant.”
