In the first 2 months, the Ukraine reduced steel production by 20%

According to the Ukrainian State Statistics Committee, in January-February of 2014 the steel production in the country fell by 20% as compared with the same period of the previous year to 2 082 thousand tons. At the same time, in this February the smelting of primary steel grew a little as compared with the previous months and made up 1 053 thousand tons that is by 16.5% less than in the same period of the previous year.

In February of 2014, the production of steel semi-finished products made by continuous casting decreased by 7.7%  as compared with the same period of the previous year to 1 341 thousand tons that is also by 7.7% less than in the previous month. In January-February of 2014, production of slabs and billets was 2 795 thousand tons, decreased by 4.8% as compared with the same period of the previous year.
