Representatives of Russia and EU to discuss the operation of OPAL gas pipeline in early April

The representatives of Russia and EU at a meeting of the special working group for the OPAL gas pipeline in early April will discuss the maximum operation of its capacities, the deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, A. Yanovsky said.

The OPAL gas pipeline with the throughput capacity of 36 bln cubic meters goes from Greiswald to Olbernhau connecting the new Nord Stream pipeline and the earlier existing gas transport networks. In 2012 the regulator of Germany satisfied the application of Gazprom on 100% reservation of the capacities of the OPAL pipeline. However, later the European Commission decided that in conformity with the energy package Gazprom may be given not more than 50% of the capacities.
