“ZapSib-Transservice” has discovered new coal

The railway operator has purchased the captive company from KTK.

The railway company “ZapSib-Transservice” has purchased the transport operator of the Kuzbass fuel company (KTK) having obtained besides more than 3 thousand cars a 5-year contract for the maintenance of 65% of its cargo base. The analysts assess the amount of the deal at the level of $220-260 mln. The small “ZapSib-Transservice” has managed not only to obtain the asset by passing the competition with the largest players but significantly reduce the price as a result of the deal “Sibuglemettrans” which is also put up for sale.

Sources in the market told Kommersant that “ZapSib-Transservice” had purchased the transport operator of KTK. According to them, the deal was closed in early March. The CEO of “ZapSib-Transservice”, A. Muraviev, has confirmed that recently 100% of KTK LLC has been purchased, the amount of the deal is not released. The deal comprised not only 3,120 cars but the 5-year contract for 65% of the cargo base of KTK. Mr. Muraviev said a larger fleet will be needed to work with KTK than was purchased in the framework of the deal. We will partially engage our cars, possibly additionally attract from the market, the top-manager said. He added that now the operator will have more than 12 thousand cars, however, it is planned to increase the park up to 20 thousand within 2 years.
