Pipe consumption rose 6.7%, production – 7.6% over 10 months

According to the Fund for Development of Pipe Industry, in Jan-October 2014 pipe consumption in Russia rose 6.7% to 8.7 mln tons in Russia. The demand growth is mainly in the segment of large diameter pipes (+35.3% against the same period in 2013). The production of pipes in Russia over 10 months rose 7.6% to 9.15 mln tons.

“The export of pipes over 10 months fell 8% to 1 mln tons, import of pipe products – by 24.5% to 0.561 mln tons. The fall of imports is mainly connected with the fall of pipes’ supply from China. In Jan-October the import from China to Russia of drilling, casing and tubing pipes fell 42.3% to 0.098 mln tons in annual terms. Nevertheless, the volume of the imported to Russia Chinese pipes in 2014 in the stated assortment exceeds by more than twice the trade flow in 2011-2012”, is reported.
