Russia not to add gas for Europe because of the Ukraine

Yesterday the President of Russia, V. Putin, met with the head of Gazprom, A. Miller. Formally they discussed the problems of preparation for the winter, better to say, their absence. A special correspondent of Kommersant, A. Kolesnikov, however, thinks that the goal of the meeting was to explain once again to the Western partners that Russia doesn’t agree to the additional gas supplies so that the Ukraine could make use of the results of these supplies.

Gazprom’s head, Mr. Miller was asked about the reason of his appearing in the Kremlin. He answered:

- It is first of all about the start of the autumn-winter period.

He thought for a while and added:

- I would say it is about the start of the autumn-winter maximum.
