Khabarovsk region searches for investors for gas chemicals production

The Khabarovsk region again searches for investors for the gas chemicals production, the raw materials for which by 2017 might be the “Power of Siberia” gas pipeline. Now the “Sakhalin-1” consortium supplies gas to the region. The contract is signed until 2025. Analysts think the gas producers are interested in the gas chemicals production, however, it will be difficult for these products to enter the APR region’s market and the competition for the gas will stay.

The Government of the Khabarovsk region is looking for Russian and foreign investors for 2 gas chemicals projects, the chairman of the Committee of the Government of the Khabarovsk region for the development of the Fuel and Energy sector, A. Shataev said. According to him, it is about a dimethyl ether production plant with the capacity of 300 thousand tons a year and a methanol plant on the basis of natural gas for 2.5 thousand tons of methanol a day. The gas supply at the volume of 760 mln cubic m a year will be required for the first project, for the second -800 mln cubic m a year. The approximate value of each plant is several billion roubles.
