Gazprom does not see spare capacities in Sakhalin-2

The pipeline system of Sakhalin-2 project does not have spare capacities for Rosneft’s gas transporting, the Deputy Chairman of Management Board of Gazprom, A. Medvedev says.

Rosneft plans to build an LNG plant with the annual capacity of 5 million tons at Sakhalin jointly with ExxonMobil. Rosneft asked to grant it access to Sakhalin-2 for reducing the cost of the project, and was ready to invest into the enlargement of the pipeline. The Ministry of Energy was ready to discuss the idea but Gazprom’s representatives doubted reasonability of construction of one more plant LNG plant at Sakhalin.
