Japanese corporation interested in the construction of a refinery and small LNG plants on Sakhalin

Japanese companies JGC, Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui & Co Ltd have been interested in participation in the Sakhalin region’s projects for the construction of small LNG plants, refinery and creation of gas chemical production, the press centre of the Government of the Sakhalin region reports.

This issue was discussed at the meetings in Tokyo with leaders of these companies by the Russian delegation, headed by the plenipotentiary representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. The delegation also included the Sakhalin Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.

The Russian delegation discussed the prospects of the further development of the Sakhalin-2 project with the leadership of the corporations Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui & Co Ltd. "The prospects are connected with the construction of the third production line of the LNG plant of the Sakhalin-2 project, increase in the output of products, creation of the island gas chemical production. Also the Japanese corporations might be involved in the implementation of local projects, connected with the use of the Anivskoye gas field in the south of Sakhalin," – the statement says.
