Kiev intends to win the case on the collection of $3.2 from Gazprom

The anti-monopoly committee of the Ukraine in January fined Gazprom for about $3.2 bln (85.86 bln grivnas) for the abuse of its monopoly position in the gas transit market.

The anti-monopoly committee of the Ukraine expects that Gazprom will appeal the fine of $3.2 bln and hopes to win the case, the head of the committee, Y. Terentiev, said.

Gazprom was supposed to pay the fine until April 12th. Gazprom was surprise to learn about the fine as it doesn’t run entrepreneurship activity in the Ukraine transferring gas at the western border with Russia to Naftogas.

Taking into account Gazprom’s intention to cooperate with the anti-monopoly committee of the Ukraine, Gazprom was fined for 86 bln grivnas.

I think we will win the case, Terentiev said.
