Wintershall to engage in oil production at Lukoil’s sites

Rainer Seele, the head of Wintershall’s management, has announced plans to extend cooperation with Lukoil. Currently, the actual task for the German company is to conclude a deal on interchange of assets with Gazprom.

The operations with Gazprom will be completed by the end of the first six months of 2014 and then Wintershall intends to activate negotiations with Lukoil’s head, Vagit Alekperov. Seele thinks that production of difficult oil is one of the priorities of the cooperation. Although, Wintershall’s specialization is work with difficult gas fields, currently the company tests technology of enhanced oil recovery.
