UC Rusal freezes production in Nigeria

UC Rusal will close production at Alscon aluminium plant in Nigeria. Oleg Deripaska holds 85% of the enterprise.

The decision to stop production of aluminium in Nigeria reminds one of the situation at BAZ. First of all, the high prime cost of aluminium ($2,900 per ton) is the reason for closing the enterprise. Though the capacity of the plant makes up 193 thousand tons, in 2012 the production made up only 22 thousand tons of metal. The power plant of Alscon will go on working satisfactorily.
