The oil company Rosneft and businessman Arkady Rotenberg, included in the European sanctions lists at the end of July this year, have taken legal action against the European Union.

Claims against the European Council - the EU institution, which took decisions on the sanctions – were filed in the Luxembourg-based European Court of Justice.

The Rosneft’s claim was registered by the court on October 9th, 2014, the two Rotenberg’s lawsuits - on October, 10. The essence of the claims hasn’t been disclosed, there are only the names of the lawsuits: “Rosneft and others against the Council" and "Rotenberg against the Council" (the names of two lawsuits, filed by Rotenberg, are the same, they differ only in numbers).
