Seoul back on the subject of Gazprom’s pipeline to South Korea

At the suggestion of Vladimir Putin, the Government has come back to project of the construction of a subsea gas pipeline to South Korea: the Ministry of Energy can make an assessment of the project before the end of the year, Kommersant writes. According to the edition, this is the Seoul’s initiative, which wants to buy gas from Gazprom, but isn’t ready to pay for the pipeline's construction. But experts doubt as seriousness of the parties’ intentions, as perspectives of the project, which may cost about 10 billion euro.

The Ministry of Energy is ready to preliminary assess the economic efficiency of the construction of the gas pipeline from the Russian Far East to South Korea under the sea for one-two months, the Head of the Ministry, Alexander Novak stated yesterday. He said that the basic variant of gas supply is still the onshore one – the construction of a pipe through North Korea.Lets note, Vladimir Putin recalled the pipeline projects with South Korea only two weeks ago, during the APEC summit, and noted that both variants were being considered.
