As a result of stoppage of unprofitable plants in 2013, UC Rusal to decrease production of aluminium by 8%

As a result of implementation of program on a decrease in production, UC Rusal reduced  aluminium output by 324 733 tons that is 8% of the production volume in 2012. The effect of the program realization will make up 647 504 tons in 2014 (15% of the production volumes in 2012), the company reports.

Today, the aluminium production is completely suspended at the Volgograd, Volkhov and Uralsk aliminium plants, at the first stage of the Novokuznetsk aliminium plant and at the ALSCON plant (Nigeria). The output was also stopped at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th buildings of the Bogoslovsk (the first one was stopped in 2011) and the 1st and the 2nd buildings of the Nadvoitsky aluminium plants (the 3rd one was stopped in 2012).
