Bashneft’s shares arrested

It might be connected with the investigation of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Kommersant has learnt that the arrest of 71.8% of Bashneft’s shares belonging to AFK Systema might be connected with the investigation of the circumstances of the company’s shares and assets consolidation in early-mid 2000s held by the Investigative Committee of Russia. As a result Bashneft’s shares might be frozen for an undetermined period that puts under threat the planned for the autumn SPO. They say in the market that Bashneft’s problems might be connected with the intention of other large players to purchase the company and the SPO aims at protecting them from that.
