In Q1 of 2015, Severstal reduced sales of rolled metal by 4%

Decline in the demand for rolled metal has seriously affected the dynamics of Severstal’s sales. In the first quarter of 2015, the company reduced the shipments by 4% as compared with the fourth quarter of 2014 to 2.55 million tons.

The sales growth was recorded only in one type of rolled products - hot-rolled sheet. Increase in the profitability of exports allowed the company to increase the sales of hot-rolled sheet by 13% as compared with the end of the previous year to 928 thousand tons. An additional advantage for Severstal is the proximity of production capacity to ports and export markets. In the first quarter of 2015, the share of the export sales by the units "Russian Steel" increased to 38%.
