Alexander Khurshudov: Certain provisions of the Energy Strategy ES -2035 draft can cause major damage to the economy of Russia.

RF Ministry of Energy has submitted an Energy Strategy of Russia draft untill 2035 to the government, Cyril Molodtcov, the deputy minister, stated at the parliamentary hearings in the State Duma. Today, Alexander Khurshudov, the Oil and Gas Information Agency resident expert, comments on the ES -2035 project in the field of oil and gas.

First, the good things. It’s good, that draft of the ES - 2035 energy strategy is laid out for public comment. No, I do not feel the slightest hope that the authors will accept criticism and change something in it. Simply, we will know what we are facing.

It’s good, that project has no record levels of oil production. There will not be any. The reorientation of hydrocarbon exports to Southeast Asia causes no objections, the beginning of work on the shelf and testing of stranded oil. We may welcome the good intentions of the growth in petrochemicals and EOR, but would like to see the means for their implementation in the project too.
