Gazprom Neft significantly increased drilling in subarctic zone in Yamal

In 2015, 34 operational wells were drilled at the Novoportovsky oil and gas condensate deposit (developed by Gazprom Neft-Yamal). That result exceeds the business plan by 4 wells and by 26 wells the result of 2014.

The accelerated rate of putting the wells into operation with the record for this area rate of drillings was reached by means of application of the modern technologies. In 2015 well #9285 with the maximum length of the well bore of 4,363 m and maximum driftage speed of 5.98 days/thousand cubic m was drilled. In early Jan 2016 another high output #4047 with the length of the horizontal site of the well bore of 1.5 thousand m was put into operation at the Novoportovsky deposit. Its initial output exceeded 1 thousand tons a day that confirms a high potential of the layer at the Novoportovsky suite.

The growth of the drilling speed and number of construction wells is connected with the strategic plans on the hydrocarbons extraction growth in the arctic area at the Yamal peninsula. It became possible due to the application of modern technologies, realization of the tools of the “Technical limit” project that comprises the creation of working groups on planning, engagement of contractors into the planning process and regular assessment of works. In the coming years we will significantly increase the volumes of the extracted oil at the peninsula, that will require the preparation of new multi-well pads and drilling of a large number of operational wells with the maximum efficiency and minimal influence on the environment, the deputy CEO of Gazprom Neft-Yamal, S. Goryachev, said.
