Rosneft decides to intercept former gas assets of Yukos from Novatek

Rosneft has offered the Italian company Eni to buy almost a half of the gas-producing company Severenergia, the Vedomosti reports. The joint venture of Novatek and Gazpromneft has already made a binding offer for this package.

Novatek and Gazpromneft owned the controlling stake of Severenergia, while other 49% of the company’s shares belonged to the Italian companies Eni and Enel, united into a structure Arctic Energy. The Russian joint venture wanted to buy the whole package of the Italians, but Rosneft passed ahead of them by making a binding offer to Enel first.
