Turkmenistan to start TAPI gas pipeline construction in December

Turkmenistan, one of the world's largest providers of gas will start the construction of the gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) of $10 billion worth at the beginning of December 2015, a source in the Government of Turkmenistan told to Reuters. Turkmenia, which has the fourth largest reserves of natural gas in the world obtained support of the “Asian Development Bank” (ADB) in the construction of the international gas pipeline. During the meeting with the president of Turkmenistan G.Berdymukhamedov ADB Vice-President W.Zhang said that the bank will become an adviser of the project and plans to continue to provide technical and financial support for major investment projects, including the construction of TAPI.
