Russian Raiways buys high speed rails from Evraz and Mechel

Russian Railways have started to get hight strenght hundred-meter rails, made in Russia. Their use will allow the company to more effectively modernize its worn out infrastructure. Russian metallurgical companies have learned how to produce hundred-meter rails, needed by the railway companies to construct modern trunk lines. Recently, Russian Railways began to receive high strength long rails from its traditional partner - group of companies Evraz, and in spring of 2015, the supplies of similar products from the holding company Mechel are expected.

The improved performances of the new rail products are most in demand in the construction of high-speed lines and lines with high traffic volumes. Russian Railways will use them, in particular, in the modernization of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railroads.

The suppliers concluded contracts with the railway monopoly several years ago and should have provided Russian Railways with hundred-meter rails from 2012. But due to the failure of the delivery time, this product had to be purchased abroad.
