Gas assets buying deal by Rosneft can be closed in the next few weeks, Sechin

The head of “Rosneft” I.Sechin said that the deal on a purchase of the gas assets of “ALROSA” by “Rosneft” can be closed in the next few weeks. Earlier, the State Anti-monopoly Service of Russia granted a request of OJSC “TNK-BP Holding” (Rosneft controls 95%) on the acquisition of 100% shares of CJSC “Geotransgas” and 100% of “Urengoi gas company” Ltd.
According to experts, the purchase of a gas-producing subsidiary from ALROSA will give an extra synergy effect to the assets, which fell under the control of “Rosneft” after the acquisition of “Itera”, as “Geotransgas” owns a licence for the development of part of the Beregovoye gas condensate deposit in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area, where “Itera” operates too.
