Gazprom surprised by EU reaction on South Stream shutdown

Gazprom is surprised by the reaction of the Vice-President of the EU Commission, M. Shefchovich, for the plans of Russia to redirect the entire volume of the transit gas, previously meant for South Stream, to the Turkish gas pipeline which is now planned to be constructed by Russia by passing the Ukraine, the official representative of the Russian gas holding, S. Kupriyanov, said.

When the EU delegation headed by Mr. Shefchovich visited Moscow last Wednesday, the head of Gazprom, A. Miller, informed the former than the Russian party planned to redirect via Turkey the entire volume of gas that is now shipped via the Ukraine. The chairman was surprised that Turkey and the countries of south-eastern Europe may now need such volumes of gas.
