NLMK starts blast-furnace slag processing complex construction

Novolipetsk Iron-and-Steel works has started the construction of a new blast-furnace slag processing complex. An implementation of the project will allow the complex to switch to a new technology of slag cooling in 2015 and reduce hydrogen sulphide emission.
As the press-service of the enterprise states, the current slag areas and operation schedule make it impossible no-water use during the cooling of the slag. Hot slag contact with water leads to hydrogen sulphide formation with a specific odor.
