Schlumberger is removed from the agenda.

The government did not consider the purchase of Eurasia Drilling.

It appears that Schlumberger have failed to reach an agreement in Moscow on the purchase of the Russian, Eurasia Drilling Company. Consideration of the transaction at the last minute was removed from the agenda of the meeting of the government commission on foreign investments without explanation. Sources of "the Kommersant" are confident that this decision was made with the participation of the first persons of the country. According to "the Kommersant", the Russian authorities were concerned that "an absolutely American company" gets control of part of the strategic industries. Experts state that Schlumberger was ready to compromise, and perhaps will continue to negotiate.

Last Thursday the Government Commission on foreign investments did not consider a deal to buy Russian oilfield Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC) by Schlumberger. "The issue will not be imposed on the agenda", - the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Igor Artemyev told "Interfax", without specifying when the deal is considered now. Prior to that, the FAS confidently expected a final decision on June 11. Companies did not comment the situation on Thursday.
