Research-to-practice conference “Development of the Arctic and subpolar regions”
A scientific-practical conference "Development of the Arctic and subpolar regions" is going t start in Yekaterinburg. Its members - scientists, industrialists, government representatives - will discuss practical aspects of implementation of the Russia Arctic zone state development strategy.
Let’s recall, the document was adopted in 2013, and in April of this year, the Russian Government approved the state program "Socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation till 2020". The state's position is as follows: the Arctic is a key to ensure national and resource security of Russia in the 21st century, one of sources of competitive advantage in world markets and increase of economic potential of the country as a whole. Given the growing interest of world powers to the Arctic shelf, Russia should rebuild its shaky positions in the international struggle for leadership in the development of this area in the coming years.
