Gazprom increases its export on account of competitors

Yesterday, head of Gazprom Export’s Department of Contracts and Pricing Structuring, Sergei Komlev reported at the conference “Energy Dialogue of Russia and the EU: Gas aspect” that in the first quarter of 2014 the company’s gas export grew by 2.6% to 42.7 billion cubic meters, the Kommersant writes.

He noted that the company managed to increase the sales at the beginning of the year, when it was abnormally warm and consumption in Europe fell by 38 billion cubic meters, due to a reduction of competitors’ supplies. According to Komlev’s information, in the first quarter Algeria decreased the supplies to the EU by 2.8% to 9.1 billion cubic meters, Qatar by 6.2% to 4.9 billion cubic meters, Nigeria by 6.5% to 0.8 billion cubic meters.
