Lukoil is interested in the privatization of Bashneft

Lukoil wants to take part in the privatization of Bashneft, the Reuters reports. The Kommersant’s interlocutors on the market and analysts agree that from the point of view of the state Lukoil would be the perfect buyer. But for the company itself the deal makes sense only in the case of obtaining control over Bashneft, which is contrary to the current positions of the President and Government.

Several companies claim to state-owned package of Bashneft, among them is the largest Russian private oil company Lukoil, the Reuters reported on Friday, referred to a source in the Government. On these rumors the value of ordinary shares of Bashneft grew in price by 3.8% on the Moscow stock exchange on Friday. Lukoil, Bashneft and the Federal Property Management Agency declined to comment.
