Turkmenistan start to build TAPI gas pipeline

Turkmenistan has started to constrcut the Turkmen section of the international gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).

The ceremony of welding the first joint of the pipe, which was held in the town of Mary (southern Turkmenistan), was attended by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ghani, the Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
