Zaporozhstal plans to significantly increase production in the second half of 2014

Zaporozhstal, which belongs to Metinvest, plans to significantly increase the production of steel in the second half of this year due to launch of the blast furnace-4 after its reconstruction.

"We do plan to significantly increase the production in the second half of the year due to launch of a new modern blast furnace№4, which will allow us to increase the iron production by almost 30% and finished rolled metal by almost 20%," - said Zaporozhstal’s general director Rostislav Shurma.

According to him, the reason for increasing output is also efficiency of the company.

"We are effective, recently we achieved substantial reduction of prime cost and, as a consequence, we are competitive at all markets without exception. Today, we can sell our products in Europe and in Asia, in Brazil, in America. And we will go to such markets, as India, Brazil - to sell some volumes. The prime cost of our products allows us to do this,"- he said.
